Outreach Showroom

The PPL PWR Outreach workshop series teaches students: project management skills; teamwork and team roles; ideation, design and modelling of their output (from idea to prototype); and presentation skills.

Students are supervised to work towards a real-world output such as delivering a lesson or workshop, or producing a blog, video or podcast. The students present their outputs to a panel of judges who pick a winner.

2020-21 Winner!

A new podcast focusing on mental health and wellbeing for PhD students created by PhD students.

The team are students on the Centre for Doctoral Training-Advanced Characterisation of Materials (CDT-ACM) programme, run by University College London, Imperial College London and Trinity College Dublin. The podcast was produced by the students without involvement from the CDT or the colleges and the opinions expressed are their own.

We are Annie Clarke, Wenxuan Cai, Felix Mildner and Georgia Predila, a group of PhD Students on the CDT Advanced Characterisation of Materials programme across UCL, Imperial College and Trinity College Dublin. Join us as we delve into the world of truth, misinformation, conspiracy theories and fake news. 

We will be discussing the ‘what’ of misinformation- what is it, what does it mean, to allow you to recognise these situations in your everyday life.

We will be discussing some tales of misinformation to investigate the ‘who’, ‘why’ and ‘how’ of misinformation- who are the perpetrators, why do they do it, how does it affect us, to allow you to recognise these situations in your everyday life and to begin to tackle these situations, to make sure you do not fall into the trap of misinformation spreading.

Join us as we delve into the world of truth, misinformation, conspiracy theories and fake news. 

We will be discussing another tale of misinformation and sharing more remedies to misinformation- what can you do to personally tackle misinformation, including how to help those who may have fallen victim to misinformation.
