Workshops + Skills

PPL PWR is inspiring the next generation to live sustainably, and empowering them to take the future into their own hands.

This is achieved through a series workshops for students aged 13-16.

The course outlines the basics of renewable technologies (such as wind turbines, solar panels etc.), and then presents a choice of sustainability-based problems to be solved by students, by designing their own solution, and developing this into a product, through prototyping and manufacture.

In a world in which creativity can often be stifled by an emphasis on perfection, we want to give them the "fail fast and get better" approach, learning to accept failure as a first step to success.

  • Funded by The Royal Academy of Engineering

PPL PWR was given an Ingenious Grant by the Royal Academy of Engineering to bring real-life engineering into schools in East London while raising awareness of sustainable issues and technologies.

Ingenious is a public engagement awards scheme which funds exciting projects which aim to bring the joys of engineering to the attention of the public in innovative ways. PPL PWR is determined to inspire the next generation to live more sustainably and empower them to take their futures into their own hands.

  • Wind, Rain and Sun - Making Energy

These days, it’s easy to feel like we are losing control of our environment. Fortunately, there is, and has been for a while, a growing trend towards renewable energy deployment. As well, there is a growing need to capitalise on intermittent renewable sources, including the Wind, Rain and Sun.

Making Energy really is fun! Everything starts with a simple idea, either copying something else or adapting it to make something better. It can also inspire ideas that could change the world or just inspire someone else to change something small in their life.
